Worship

Yet a time is coming and has now come when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth, for they are the kind of worshipers the Father seeks. God is spirit, and his worshipers must worship in spirit and truth.” – John 4:23-24

Worship is a response to the Lord and an attitude of the heart that does not take place only during the music. It must always be characterized by the principle of John 3:30: He must increase, I must decrease.” (NASB)

The songs we sing are biblically based. We find them from both present and past, and the criteria by which we judge them are as follows:

  • They must exalt Jesus
  • Explain doctrine
  • Express our adoration of Him
  • Lift up praise to His Name, declaring our need for Him.

Choirs, instrumentation, and leaders in praise music operate on the premise of “more of Him and less of me.” We direct our hearts toward the Lord in corporate worship through music, and we acknowledge that only the Holy Spirit can prompt the acceptable response in the hearts of the people. Empty rote and repetitious songs and songs not based on Scripture are avoided.
