This Week at Crossroads: January 20 – 26

 THIS WEEK AT CROSSROADS

LOOKING FOR A PLACE TO SERVE

The preschool area has an immediate need for a few more helpers.  We need ONE more helper in the nursery during the Sunday School hour (9:15-10:30).  We need 1-2 more helpers in the nursery on Wednesday evening (6:00-7:30).  If interested, please contact Melodi Brewer at mbrewer@crossroadsmemphis.com or call the church office.

MARK YOUR CALENDAR FOR THE MID-AMERICA PASSION PLAY

We are excited about partnering with Mid-America Baptist Theological Seminary in a thrilling journey to Israel, June 27-July 4, 2019. There is still time to sign up. On Sunday, January 13 at 4:00 in the Awana Room, we will have a follow-up informational meeting. If you have already registered or if you are interested in hearing more about our trip, you won’t want to miss our special guest from Israel, Moshe Gabay. Moshe is the Director of Keshet Journeys in Jerusalem. He is a professional licensed tour guide and has been working in tourism since finishing his compulsory army duty with the Israeli military. Moshe is a born again believer in Jesus and his mission is to bring people closer to Him by showing them the Land of Israel. You can also discover more/register online at www.premierisrael.com/crossroads.

FAMILY WEDNESDAYS

Dinner will be catered by Jason’s Deli. The meal includes penne pasta, pasta sauce: tomato-basil or creamy Alfredo, grilled chicken breast, fresh salad, herb focaccia bread, and dessert. Cost:  $5. (This semester the Wednesday meal will cost $5 for everyone with a cap of $20 per family.) Dinner begins at 4:45 PM, with Awana, Youth, Twenties Bible Study, Adult Bible studies, and Prayer Meeting beginning at 6:00 PM. Adult Choir practice begins at 7:00 PM.

10:30 WORSHIP SERVICE OVERFLOW

During this time of construction with limited sanctuary space, an overflow room will be set up for use during the 10:30 Worship Service with a live broadcast. It will be located in Ted Minor’s Classroom (S-124). We do ask that those utilizing the overflow area demonstrate the same courtesy and reverence as in the sanctuary.

NEW SUNDAY SCHEDULE

Early Service Begins. Balcony construction will necessitate the removal of pews in the work area reducing sanctuary seating capacity by 200. To provide enough seating, a second service will be added at 8:00 AM until construction is complete. There will NOT be a nursery or childcare available during this service, so we are encouraging those without young children to attend this service.

New Sunday School Time. During the balcony construction, Sunday School will meet from 9:30 -10:15 AM.

CIRCLE OF FRIENDS

A new ministry, Circle of Friends, beginning in January 2019 will honor widows and single ladies (age 50 and older) during their birth month with a luncheon. If you are interested in serving as a hostess or co-hostess, please call Ann Baumgartner at 901-853-4861.

FILL A “BOTTLE FOR LIFE”

“Bottles for Life” is a special project sponsored by Life Choices of Memphis. Your donation will help women who find themselves in the crisis of an unplanned pregnancy by providing testing and parenting classes, as well as post-abortive counseling free of charge. Life Choices is also a licensed adoption agency and receives no federal funding. Fill a bottle with spare change, cash, or a check (make payable to Life Choices), and return it to the Narthex on or before January 27th. Bottles will available in the Narthex beginning January 6.

STAND FOR LIFE RALLY

The 43rd Stand for Life Rally is Sunday, January 20, 2019, 1:30 PM at the Madonna Learning Center, 7007 Poplar Avenue, (Germantown). Sponsored by the Shelby County Chapter, Tennessee Right to Life, the rally marks the 46th anniversary of the US Supreme Court’s infamous Roe decision. The program includes keynote speaker Bishop Vincent Mathews, Jr., President, Church of God in Christ (COGIC) World Missions and more. For more information, phone 901-692-3424.
